From the history background, Gradsko is well known as a significant
traffic and trade cross-way, not only for Republic of Macedonia, but
for the Balkan’s region, too. The main reason is its geography
location - it’s comprised the plane land on the central part of
Macedonia, on the both sides of Vardar river (Sredno Povardarje).
Important traffic and railway junctions are crossing here and they
make connections with the north and the south part of the Balkans.
The territory of this municipality is 290 km2 and there are couple
settled places. The The ethnical strucuture of the population
consists: Macedonians, Boshniaks, Albanians, Romas, Turks and
Serbians. They mainly exist from agriculture. The surface of a
cultivated land is 7.000 ha and the most common occupation of the
population is developing the garden cultures. There are favourable
conditions for developing the agriculture, cultivating grapes and
producing wine. The small part of population occupy with
cattle-breeding, because pasture-grounds in this region are rainless
compare with other parts of Macedonia. According to the new
partition of the Republic and local self-government, municipality
Gradsko starts with serious revitalisation of this region, so the
migration processes will be stopped as well as life and existence
conditions will be improved.
